Jinan, the capital city of East China's Shandong province, is proactively promoting and hosting internationally recognized sports events to stimulate the economy and bolster its image as an urban powerhouse.

During the recent National Day Golden Week holiday from Oct 1 to 7, the city experienced a surge in sports events that boosted local economic development and fueled consumption. Eleven such events received over 8,000 participants from across the country, generating a consumption of 5.93 million yuan ($838,200).

The events, which included street dancing, physical challenges, table tennis, football, basketball, wrestling, and esports, provided a visual and sensory feast for visitors, attracting large crowds of spectators.

The HHI World Hip-hop Championship China - Jinan Station was a highlight thanks to the dynamic dance moves and intense performances on display. Over 600 participants from across China showcased their outstanding dance skills to an audience of more than 50,000 spectators.

The ripple effect caused by the increasing popularity of the sports events brought considerable revenue to Jinan's hospitality, dining, and transportation sectors, while also boosting the sports goods and equipment market. Sports gear and event-related souvenirs in particular became fast-selling items.
